Its capital, Mahon, is located on a cliff overlooking the port at the end of the one of the largest natural fjords in Europe. Historically, Menorca was settled by various civilizations because of its strategic position on the Mediterranean: a natural fortress open to the sea and a sought after refuge from the winds and fury of the sea and from enemies.

The most popular activities on the island are, swimming, wind surf, sailing, water skiing, and diving, but hiking, bicycling or horseback riding must not be forgotten.
The whole coast can be explored on foot, on bicycle or on horseback following the “Cami de Cavalls” a path, which circumnavigates the island. The Cami de Cavalls is divided into various itineraries and is very popular with hiking groups.
